We were late again, but thankfully did not miss too much. I would have liked to hear Spirit of Radio and Time Stands Still, but oh well. We got there during “Leave that Thing Alone”.

Their video screen was shockingly sharp and bright. Their production work and it’s use was great, but not over the top. A+ for that. Their pyro and fireworks… well, the timing was off, it was mostly underwhelming, and in some spots just completely ill conceived. It seemed to just interrupt the music. I did get one cool picture of some pyro though, so I HAVE to post that obviously!

The video interlude between Part 1 of the show and Moving Pictures was kind of neat and entertaining. What was more funny was Geddy Lee saying “We’ll be right back, due to our advancing age we need a short break”

Not exactly what a rock star would say, but Rush has never been the picture of rock stardom!

The fact that they were doing Moving Pictures in its entirety was great.

Neil Peart’s drum solo was VERY long and wasn’t so much focused on insane speed and technique, but more about exploring rhythms.

The lead in from there to Closer to the Heart… well I would have preferred a more traditional rendition of the song.

The band seemed to have the most fun doing the 2112 Overtures.

Video outro was entertaining, but we should have been beating feet. Getting out of Jones Beach after a sold out show, on a Saturday night… from the last song until we were on the Meadowbrook was likely an hour+
