Spinach Ravioli, fresh asparagus, and a good squeeze of lemon.

Yummy.

Hard to read the marquee but it’s pretty much the clearest picture I got last night.

Them Crooked Vultures: Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters, Nirvana), Josh Homme (Queens of the Stone Age) and of course John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin)

They rocked really hard and gave a musical performance to rival any other I’ve heard. The heavy beats in constantly shifting and unusual time signatures kept the energy high all night. Grohl is a monster on the drums. John Paul Jones is a freak playing mandolins, 8 string bass, keyboard, keytar and some other odd instruments in addition to his normal bass. Homme was a quality frontman, giving both Dave and JPJ a hard time. Definitely an act I’d see again. Although we’d need to get there earlier and secure a good spot, poor Lethy barely got to see most of the show because of a rather rude crowd of people constantly shoving their way to the front.

What else is new, I’m late with an update! Further proof that Blogs suck… or maybe I just suck at updating them.

Last month we went down to Orlando for a week…

As always, all pictures can be seen by following the “personal photo gallery” link to the left, go to Vacations, and then Orlando 2010!

Day #1 we spent getting the Timeshare spiel. It was a pain, but it yielded a nearly 50% discount on tickets for Disney, etc.

That night we went to the Arabian Nights dinner show.

It included unlimited beer, which Lethy took full advantage of…. and the blurry photos are proof!

Day #2 we went to Disney Animal Kingdom.

It was a weird mix of theme park + conservation / ecological education.

Sadly, we forgot to charge the camera, so we ran out of batteries right before we went on the Safari… FAIL. The photos from that segment are from my new Touch Pro 2.

There were a few good roller-coasters there, but in traditional Disney fashion, no loops / flips and everything with a kid friendly spin to it.

One 3D virtual ride about the life of bugs was really awesome I thought. Not worth riding more than once, but the innovation in making it a full featured experience… without actually moving anywhere… made it really cool.

Day #3 we did Epcot. Lethy had not been there before and I had not gone since …. the early 90s.

It’s still a good dumbed down synopsis of American views of foreign cultures.

The rides there are still pretty darned lame. The place was also pretty packed. The highlight to me was in Canada land there was a Bare Naked Ladies cover band playing.

Lethy was partial to Germany and its various beers on tap.

Norway’s log flume ride got severely nerfed and we both hated Mexico. It was full of rude Argentinian’s.

Day #4 Kennedy Space Center is actually pretty far from Orlando and there are TON of in the middle of fucking nowhere tolls to get there.

No, we didn’t eat space dots.

I hadn’t been since I was in a stroller so it was pretty cool to see all of it for essentially the first time.

Most of the current exhibits were either revisiting the moon landing Apollo missions or looking ahead to returning to the moon and eventually Mars.

Some of the stuff also seemed like NASA was feeling a bit of a brain drain. A lot of “NASA needs young curious minds like yours!” I guess the private sector can pay a lot more and there are more technical jobs available there to compete with the prestige of being a Rocket Scientist.

They had 1 ride there and it was ok, but despite there being NO LINE AT ALL there was still 15 minutes of video presentations and crap you had to go through before riding.

Day #5 Sea World.

Place was practically deserted.

We got there and immediately rode their brand new Manta roller-coaster 3 or 4 times in a row until we were dizzy. So to cure that we went over to “Kracken” their more traditional coaster. Rode that 4 or 5 times. Good stuff.

After that we went around and saw all the various exhibits. I gotta say, they have the presentation of it all done very nicely. Tanks where you go underneath and look up at sharks or manta rays or dolphins really gives a cool perspective on the world those animals live in.

We watched one of the dolphin stadium shows and it was pretty incredible… especially the part where a large rat crawled over Lethy’s foot! Yeah… good times!

After 4 days in a row involving tons of walking around, standing on lines, and seeing stuff… we spent the last day in Orlando just bumming around the resort.

All told we had a lot of fun!
