After our overnight flight on Open Skies to Orly (the “other” airport in Paris) we needed to cross the city to CDG.

We slipped the driver a 50 and stopped off at the Eiffel tower for a few minutes…

And then went on to drive around the Arch d’Triunph

Definitely a weird way to kick off a whirlwind trip to Italy!

The rest of the day 0 pictures can be found HERE.

Last month we went to Jackson Hole for 4 days of skiing.

We hadn’t been there since the mid 90s and we’d all improved quite a bit since then.

The mountain is steep. Weather was nice (temps in the 40s, 20s overnight), although a lack of real accumulation.

All of us got adventurous coming in for lunch on Day 1 and came down Lower Sublette pictured below in the background.

Day 2 Jane was convinced that the Hobacks, left side of above photo, was more skied over. It was mostly just crunchy.

Days 3 and 4, Ken and I would take Lower Sublette on the way in for lunch and at days’ end. I know I improved and really grew to love the run. Mushy monster moguls at the bottom were a great confidence booster.

Day 3 Ken and I rode the Tram and came down from the peak. Honestly, the view may be impressive (it was overcast, so who knows!) but the extra couple hundred feet wasn’t worth the time on Tram lines.

The little outpost at the top definitely had the “North Pole scientific research hut” feel to it with cold wind, snow blowing around, and it nestled into the bluff.

Below is the run we found that we really loved Days 3 and 4… Laramie Bowl.

The skiing was fantastic and has left itching to get back out there even a month later.

Can’t wait til next year!

I should have taken this while still at the dealership. It was at 4. Awesomeness.

Sadly, it will most likely never be this clean again.

Buddy Guy was the opener.
We came in about middle of his set. He was fairly entertaining.
He did lots of impressions of guitarists “he learned something from”
He turns 74 this weekend, but you couldn’t have guessed it given his energy on stage.
He finished his set off with a medley / mashup of Voodoo Child (Hendrix) with Sunshine of Your Love (Cream) and some other blues sounding riffs I didn’t recognize. It was pretty cool.

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers took a good long while to get on stage. I think part of that was a very late arriving crowd, but the place was 99% full by the time they took the stage.

Tom had a really nice stage presence. A lot of dramatic pauses in songs timed to his… swaying, stepping, waving. He also REALLY got into his maracas during guitar solos. Not much in the way of storytelling or anything like that, but he was really thankful of the applause they got for each song. A couple of times “Petty! Petty!” chants broke out and he seemed a little unsure how to react to it.

I played around with the manual modes of the camera a ton, so going to post a lot of pics. Now if I could only remember which I took with what settings!

All of my pictures can be seen here.

No video this time around, batteries were low from the start!
